Data analytics & BI

Dashboards built on a modelled warehouse, so the numbers agree with each other and someone can explain where every one of them came from.

TRENDMEASURE → MODEL → REPORT

A dashboard is only worth the trust people put in it. Two reports that disagree about revenue destroy that trust faster than no dashboard at all.

Definitions before charts

We start by writing down what each metric means, including the grain, the filters and the edge cases, and only then build the visual. That definition lives in the model, not in a chart's filter panel, so it stays the same wherever it is used.

Built to be handed over

Reports are structured so your team can extend them. Where self-service makes sense, we set up the semantic layer that makes it safe; where it does not, we say so.

/What this includes

  • Dashboards and reporting

Power BI and SQL-based reports built on modelled tables, not on exports that go stale the moment they are made.

  • Metric definitions

A written contract for every number: what it counts, what it excludes, and which team owns the answer.

  • Semantic layer

A shared model so self-service users reach the same answer as the finance report, without writing joins themselves.

  • Analysis on request

One-off questions answered against the warehouse, with the SQL handed over so the answer can be reproduced.

/Questions

Questions we get asked

Our reports disagree with each other. Where does that start?

Almost always with an undefined metric: two reports counting slightly different things under the same name. The fix is a written definition in the model, not a third report.

Can our team maintain the reports afterwards?

That is the intended outcome. Reports are built on modelled tables with documented definitions, and handover includes walking your analysts through the model, not just sharing a file.
